Scones are a brilliant recipe for children to make. An ideal afternoon tea treat for all to enjoy.
Why buy them when we can bake at home.
8 oz flour self raising
2 oz butter
1 tsp salt
milk and egg to mix to dough consistency
sultanas/mixed fruit and 1oz sugar can be added for fruit scones.
Basically rub the butter into the flour add the salt and sugar and fruit. add milk and egg until a dough forms.
roll out quite thick and use a cutter to make into rounds or use a small glass tumbler to cut our scone shapes.
Place on a greased baking sheet and brush top with left over milk/egg
bake in oven 180 c for 8 – 10 mins
keep in an airtight container.
